How to fixed a sideview mirror on a mercedes?

I hit a pole backing up in my tight apartment garage and while the outside of my mirror broke my actual mirror just popped out. I can pop it back in with trial and error but if i shut my door too hard it pops out again. It’s still connected to string. Please tell me I don’t have to go to the dealer!

You’d think that if you had a mercedes you’d drive as careful as you possibly could.

    .. Anyway…

Chances are, you’re going to have to return to the dealer and have them replace the side view mirror unit.

Just go to the dealer…it’s not worth putting a bandaid (DIY) on it, it won’t help.

Hello princess, I regret to tell your majesty that you have evidently sheared the fastener bolts off of your mirror. This is a common thing, as they are made to shear off intentionally and prevents the door from being pulled out and damaged. The spot where it breaks is on the housing of the mirror and needs replacement. I realize it looks as if it will go back on, but it will not. If it’s one thing that Mercedes-Benz does, they crashed their cars quite a bit before they put them on the road and so it is designed to do exactly what it did. I would not go as far as saying that the replacement will be cheap as nothing is cheap in the way of Mercedes-Benz parts. You could probably get out of the dealership spending less than $350 but it’s a lot better than buying a new door

On the back side of the glass there should be a little metal bar at the top with like a u shape on it,if this is missing a new mirror is needed. Place the mirror in place and once all the clips are back in,
(unless these little black clips are broken it will not hold, and a new one will be needed once again.)
This bar needs to be hooked over last with a little screwdriver.
    Best of luck.
(wife has A class and has broken two wing mirrors,so have learnt from this.)

It sounds like you’ll need the entire mirror assembly. There are most likely brackets that have broken off. Go to the dealer if you want to get ripped off. Do a little legwork yourself and save a lot of money. Check eBay for a replacement mirror assembly. You can also searching the classifieds section of benzoworld.org for a used mirro assembly. If you’re lucky, you’ll find one that’s the same color as your car. If not, you can have it painted. If you find one that’s already your car color, a glass shop can install it. If it’s not your body color, a body shop will have to paint it and they can also install it.
